Cartoon and Horror has been resurrected! It's been a few years since I last posted anything, but I've begun a new Instagram account where this blog will live on. For those without an Instagram account, I'll try to update the blog from time-to-time with similar content.

Here's the link to the Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/cartoonandhorror/

To begin with. Here are some of the new posters I've acquired in the last couple of years...

M is for Manure

Back at the beginning of September, my friend Jay Clarke (The Horror Section) convinced me to make a film for the ABCs of Death 2 competition.  It had been a while since I had made a short film and lately I have been working overtime on an animated feature film.  I really didn't see how I would have time to make it.  Well, after some long days and late nights over the past few weeks, I managed to make this three minute horror film.

If you have three minutes to spare, please check it out and if you dig it, please give it a "Facebook Like."

It's been a while!

Well, I have to apologize to anyone who still frequents this blog looking for new articles. I've been swamped for the past couple years working on an animated feature film. Anyways, for those who care, I may start posting a few things here and there. Let's see how things go!

For my first post back, I thought I'd share some of the posters I bought recently (or not so recently - depends if 10 months ago is recently).

Back in August of 2012 I attended Toronto's Fan Expo/Festival of Fear.  I managed to pick up some really cool posters.

DAY OF THE DEAD - Thai Poster

NIGHTBREED - Thai Poster

NOMADS - Italian Locandina Poster

POLTERGEIST - GERMAN POSTER - love this image!

PRINCE OF DARKNESS - Thai Poster - signed by John Carpenter, who I met at the Festival of Fear
Here is John signing the poster.

SILVER BULLET - Italian Locandina Poster

And more recently (for real this time - April 2013) I attended Shock Stock in London, Ontario and nabbed four theatrical posters I have been dying to get ever since I started collecting posters.  I'm still in disbelief that I got all four of them for $70 Canadian - yes, Canadian! Some of the posters still have the Canadian ratings sticker on them to boot.

CREEPSHOW 2 - Theatrical Poster

DEAD PIT - VHS poster - god I love this poster.

EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN - Theatrical Poster

THE MONSTER SQUAD - Theatrical Poster

You can find pictures for the rest of my collection HERE.

Thursday Cartoon Intro - SKELETON WARRIORS (UPDATED)

With the recent release of Skeleton Warriors on DVD, I was finally able to rip a better looking copy of the cartoon's intro. Regardless of how shitty some of the designs are and how cheesy the theme song is, this show still stands out as a gem from the 90s. They just don't make shows like this any more. Unfortunately, Skeleton Warriors only lasted 13 episodes. For those intesrested, the recent DVD release contains the entire series as well as an amazing "behind-the-scenes" documentary. Highly recommended for people looking for a cartoon with... skeletons.

Thursday Cartoon Intro - CAPTAIN POWER

I was hesitant to include Captain Power with the rest of the Thursday Cartoon Intros and not classify it as a "non-cartoon intro," however, due to the large sum of CG animation, I thought it should qualify. Captain Power is one of my favourite shows from the 80s. Created by Gary Goddard, the director of Master of the Universe - The Movie, Captain Power was released in 1987 and ran for 22 episodes. In addition to these episodes, three of the episodes were cut together to create a feature length movie. What made Captain Power so special to kids in the 80s was that it was interactive with the Mattel toys and was one of the first (if not, THE first) show to feature CG animation mixed with live-action. The DVD was recently released and has a plethora of bonus features that go into the details of the making of the series. I highly recommend this DVD for anyone who has seen the show and anyone that may be new to it. Also, I couldn't feature an intro like this one and not mention how cool the opening is. The voice-over may be over the top, but it still gives me chills.

New Horror Posters!

I really lucked out these past two weekends and came across some posters I've had on my wish list for years now! And I scored them at the incredibly low price of $5 each from a local bookstore in Kitchener.

Jay The Horror Section Clarke and I spent last Sunday driving from video store to book store to video store looking for bargains, VHS tapes, and other horror/cartoon paraphernalia. Never did I ever imagine picking up some of these gems!

And lastly, this weekend I managed to find a MEET THE FEEBLES poster for a VERY reasonable price in Toronto.
